Blog Post#7

Transforming our video styles
On monday as we were going to the basketball court, Mr.Mongardi who is our media literacy teacher and a really helpful guide who has been guiding us our way to make this project successful. He just called us over to his table for a small talk on how to improve our basketball videos. He played our last upload which was on layup. He told us that we can improve our videos by making shorter and more informative videos. So we tried following his advice for our “how to shoot videos”. Now we are almost done with the recording part of our video and are left with the editing part which will be done soon and we will be uploading it on Youtube.

Then Mr. Mongardi explained to us a really great term called the ISTE standards of learning. He asked to explain our learning via these standards about which I will be writing now. He asked us to explain on how did we use these standards in  our project. In total there are 6 ISTE standards and now I will explain the ones that we used during our project. Standard number 2) says Communication and collaboration. We are in a group and communicate a lot amongst ourselves but that is not where we limit on this standard, two of our classmates Jonah  Wimmer and Jacob Brian Richard. These two guys are really helpful to us as when we were once struggling to overcome a skill that consisted layups we walked up to them and they helped us by getting through the skill by making a short appearance in our video. Also while recording for our shooting video Jacob and Jonah helped us with some cool tips that they knew about basketball as they are connected to basketball like us.

Also when we saw some viewer comments on the video that were beneath the layup video that and the comments read as “how to shoot” we took this comment and are now trying to fulfill our viewer needs. I think as a team we are really doing great with communicating to our own classmates for tips and then expanding on this standard by getting our viewer comments and taking them seriously. Now we take comments and are trying to do our bit of communication via our videos. And I trust that if we communicate with others we will surely get more tips and different ideas.

I would like to conclude with an example of an army. Army men collaborate with each other to keep the country safe.
